  1. Here is a link to the U.S. News and World Report listing of the Best Graduate Schools for Best Education Programs (Ranked in 2008).

I hope this help you in your search.  Good Luck!

  2. I'm a teacher who is licensed to teach grades K-12.

It's really not about the "best" college or university.  I would look at highly reputable states in education performance based on standardized tests results of elementary students and look to the state schools in those states.  Usually teachers work relatively near their alma matter so that is a fairly good indicator of a good preteacher education program.  What is the "best" is then up to you - it is what you put into it and make of it.

  3. You don't really need to go to a top school to get properly trained for elementary education - most state universities offer decent programs, especially those once known as "land grant" schools, which were started to train teachers years ago.

  4. I agree with the other posters on attending the State University where you live.

I would add that, if cost is a consideration, avoid private schools.  Baylor University in Texas has an excellent reputation in education.  But, it is very expensive and, given the pay scale for beginning teachers, four years at Baylor is best left for people who can afford it.  I would say the same for all private schools.

  5. I'M CONFUSED BUT IF I'M NOT I THINK TX OR CA

  6. You should find a school in a state that you want to teach in.  The state you get your credential in will be the only state you can teach in.  If you end up wanting to teach in a different state than the state you earned your credential in you might have to take extra classes and tests.

I earned my credential in California, and it has the most rigorous standards for getting a credential.  It will be easier for me to get a credential in another state, i.e. less tests and classes.

In California the state schools are best.  School districts know that anyone who graduates from state schools are well prepared and highly qualified.

  7. Ball State gets top credentials in many circles.

Kennesaw State University gets top billing for teachers college in the south.

Every state likely has at least one reputable teachers college.
