Some of the best colleges in Qatar are in Education City.Qatar Foundation has brought in the best American colleges in several fields. Here they are:

Texas A&M: Engineering

Weill Cornell: Medical

Georgetown(w00t):Foreign Affairs

Virginia Commonwealth: Design

Carnegie-Mellon: Business and Computer Science

Northwestern: Journalism

There is also Qatar University.

If you want to apply to the EC universities, they are accepting students for the 2013 academic year. Deadline for applications: March 1st

I'm not sure about the female percentage in the universities, but I'm pretty sure it's the majority. At Qatar University about 60% of the students are female.

All the education city universities are co-ed, but Qatar University is gender segregated.
