Best company to check my credit score?

I am planning to rent a property for 6-12 months and presume they will check my credit history. How do I go about checking my own credit rating so I do not end up with any nasty surprises

Go to each of the credit agency. Equifax, transunion and experian. You want to check each one of them. You don't have to do them all at once. You could get them one every 3 months and check it that way and space them out. You want to make sure you make all your payments to credit cards on time. Each credit agency gives you a different score. It will depend on which agency the rental place uses. I would highly advise to check all 3 of your things in the 12 months before hand. First, do you have credit.  You know what debts you paid or not bad and if you were late on a payment.

Second, is the length of time that has passed. Each type of problem has a time period in which it will be carried.

Third, there are three Credit Bureau.  to check all three go to:

or type credit reporting companies in browser search.

At times, it is not the best credit reporting company that counts but which credit bureau a company uses.

Experian Equifax and callcredit. These are the three main credit ref companies. You can do them by post or some of them have free web checking services. Check links below for information.

Experian,Equiifax are two of the big ones for doing credit rating, you write to them for a credit rating of your self,  the last time that I sent for one it was two pounds,you will probably get there address on the Internet.

Use AnnualCreditReport.com

This is the only one I know of that will show you all 3 credit scores, which a lender also uses.

You can use this once a year, with no cost to you.

You are entitled to a free copy each year and this site will give you all 3 of the major consumer credit reporting companies.
