I'm wanting the best possible experience in Flight Simulator X. What are the best components to use? Joystick, obviously, but what model is best? Also, are foot rudders or anything else good to have? My price range is between $150-$200.

  1. k this is only if you want the absolute best in realism and comfort. go to http://www.saitek.com/uk/prod/proflight.... and go from there. Awesome controllers

  2. fsx is best game for those who want 2 fly planes.i m 16 years old.look any plane speed start with  :F3...SPEED SLOWS WITH:F 2,,,,,SPEED STOP BY PRESSING: F 1....on land brakes are held by:full stop......these button will help u..kep trying different buttons while flying.one day u can fly plane in better way.

  3. Joystick is a must. The type is not too important. A flight yoke may be more realistic but I'm guessing FSX isn't the only flight simulation game that you'll be playing. Any joystick will do, I like Logitech joysticks because their price is reasonable and durability is great. If you're also getting pedals, then get a Jstick that does not twist. Even with the rudder function disabled on your joystick, it still gets annoying sometimes when you twist it accidentally. For the joystick, unless you're planning to get a separate throttle component, get a joystick that comes with a built-in throttle. It may not be very realistic but it beats the f1, f2, f3, f4 keys.

Pedals are good to have if you're really into the game. It really adds realism and for current or future pilots, having pedals makes sure you won't develop any bad habits later on.

Some people with low budgets even proposed that you get a cheap joystick, like a logitech attack 3, stick it through a wooden board, and there you go, DIY rudder pedals. I don't really approve this method, at least if you're using an Attack 3 joystick because that joystick is great in my opinion. 29,99$, 12 or so programmable buttons and it lasted me 5 years and counting. And I used it for FSX FS9, and a long list of combat flight simulators from Jane's WWII Fighter to Lock On :MAC. I even used it to play racing games.

I did not recommend Saitek because their customer service is HORRIBLE. You won't believe. Beware of that awesome looking set that comes with joystick and throttle quadrant with super LCD display (X52). The joystick is extremely loose and there is no way to adjust it like on some other expensive joysticks. Many people called customer service and you know what they said after 3 weeks? " You'll get used to it". No help at all and website is not very helpful either.

Some of their equipment is pretty good, but most are kind of overpriced. If ever their joystick drivers or button mapping software creates conflict with other software, don't expect any help from Saitek.
