  1. Of course there are good credit cards for students. The only way a credit card can be bad is if it isn't paid at the end of the month! There are lots of cards to choose from, but what you need to do is sit down for 20 minutes and work out what you can afford to put on the card that will allow you to pay it off at the end of the month. It's an excellent way to build a credit rating, as credit ratings are based on a pattern of borrowing money and paying it back.

You might find it useful to go to http://applyforastudentcreditcard.com and take a look at the cards offered, as many of them have some cool features, different APRs, etc, etc...just keep in mind that every card company has a goal of making a certain amount of money from every card holder, on the average. So the combination of features, APR and all the other goodies that cards have are designed to achieve that goal. If you can make sure that you dont fall prey to keeping a balance, then what's the problem? pick some that work for YOU and all should be good.

    Good luck!

  2. You can find and compare those types of cards here:

  3. None, zero, zip, nada, zilch, uh-uh.  Get them a debit card and tie it to there own checking account and put a stop limit on it and tell them to keep a close eye on it and you do too!

  4. Discover and Chase have some good cards specifically for students.  Most of them have rewards (cashback or points, etc) too.

It is a great idea to get a card now to build up your credit, but ONLY if you can be responsible with it.  If you are responsible, you will start building a solid credit history so that when you get out of school, you can apply for car loans, mortgages, etc.  Obviously, if you are not responsible with it, it will hurt your score and future credit applications.

  5. At my college, I got a great card through the credit union of the school. It was convenient, connected to my savings and checking account (I could just click a button on the computer to pay my balance), and had a low interest rate (and low maximum amount to avoid overspending). If your school has a bank or credit union associated with it, that would be a good option. Otherwise, Discover and Visa both offer cards where you can get a % of money spent back, Visa's is just on the three kinds of items you spend the most on, while Discover's is a lower %, but on all purchases.

  6. This link has got some good comparisons:

Just make sure you get one with 0% introductory APR and then no annual fee.

  7. capital one

  8. Best credit card is no credit card. Why do you need one anyway? The only thing you'll do with it is buy stuff you can't afford. Why can't you afford it? Because you have to put it on credit.
