Iberostar brands are very good. I stayed at Iberostar Punta Cana in July for 5 nights and I enjoyed every bit of it. It's absolutely gorgeous. If you are not interested in going out of the resort and care less about tours, then this is the place to be. I wrote a review about it at tripadvisor.com. I could be found with the same ID. Enjoy!

Iberostar Punta Cana is good

Iberostar Puerto Plata is better.

But all depends what do you expect from your holiday.

Punta Cana very nice tourist hotel but nothing to see/do

Puerto Plata reasonable hotels but a lot to discover and bigger beaches.
