Best design for a sail to catch the wind to pull a model boat?

I thought maybe a pirate ship type of sail... not sure

my boat has to catch the wind to go across a pond in less than 3 minutes.

  2. There is a lot of factors that go into what is the best sail layout.

    If you are sailing straight downwind a square rigged ship does great.

    A gaff riged boat is also good downwind.

    A bermuda rig can be easier to handle and can point upwind better.

    A gaff rigged boat will have a lower center of effort than a bermuda rig.
