Question:

Best-designed & most effective green guides?

Can anyone recommend a guide of environmentally sound behaviour that is:

- clear

- concise

- practical

- well designed

Many of the people I know, even those concerned about the environment, have confused ideas about everyday 'green' behaviour (e.g. how to do the laundry/use the air-con/use central heating etc. without wasting resources).

Many of the green guides I've looked at are long-winded and too general, and the layout is often too cluttered. I find that most people don't even bother reading them to the end. Any clear, concise, effectively laid out lists of useful 'green' tips out there?

Thanks for any suggestions!

  3. http://Treehugger.com has a section on how to go green.  I don't find it to be the most clear or concise, but it does break the topics out into bite sized pieces that can be read in just a few minutes.  Plus it's free.

I recently started a website in an effort to collect ideas and create clear and concise guides.  I too find the information out there to be too general, and not at all concise.  My site is new and light on information, but with a little participation I think it will be a good resource.  I placed it in the sources.

  4. http://www.greenhomehints.com has a lot of the information you may be looking for, as well as statistics looking at what exactly gets wasted in the average household, and how to change a few simple things to change that.

  5. I read one book that changed my outlook and drive to clean up the world. It's called "Serve God, Save the Planet." It is very spiritual, yes, but it tells the true story of a man and his family who went from being huge wasters to only using a fraction of their energy. It is powerful, has checklists for going green in the back, and has tons of ideas that he used. It is a very interesting read. If you're not a Christian or not big on the whole religious thing, you should try reading it anyway, just ignore the religious parts, although there are a lot. It has so many ideas. Good luck and good for you!!!!

Check out this neat video one of my friends made on global warming's causes and effects. It is really powerful.
