Best digital camera!

Question

okay... so my uncle is looking for a great camera to take back to mexico with him. he travels a lot! so he'll need the camera to take great low light pictures. he keeps asking what optical zoom is and i don't really know how to explain that. he doesn't want a camera that's all big either. he would prefer one of those thin ones and prefer for it to be able to record video and sound as well. he says the higher the optical zoom is, the better. and i say the higher the mega pixels, the better. so if there's both! then that's great!!! :) brand names and the model please... if you could give a link, that would be appreciated.

I have a canon sd900 and I swear by canon. My friends have other types like panasonic, sony, etc. but they all have low quality. Canon has the best quality and this camera is 10 megapixels (which is a lot for a point and shoot camera). It records video as well! I might sound like an advertisement for canon but I would not regret it if I were him. Hope that helps.

Optical zoom is definitely more important than megapixels. All modern cameras have super-high megapixel counts that will work for any amateur photographer/snapshots. See this article on megapixels: http://www.degeeked.com/answers/detail/h...
