  1. Hey there!  Number 22 is absolutely correct! face the gable ends due east and west, with the north side and south side, the long sides.

It will give the most light and warmth year round.

30 years as a commercial grower, putting up my own houses, and my Barn is facing the same way.  My barn is 120 years old, so the gable ends facing east west is not a new idea in farming.

  2. A greenhouse should be orientated so that it runs east to west lengthwise.  This will give you maximum sunlight from the south.  In other words, have your shorter ends facing east and west.

  3. ridge of roof would most commonly  be east/west

exhaust should be at west end

intake and cool cells should be at east end

if it is a long run of gutter connected houses it is not uncommon for them to have the longest dimension running east west. intakes at south end and exhaust at north end.

Any doors should open outwards so they will stay closed when cooling systems are in use.
