best dirtbike cheap within 2,500 dollars for a 12 year old motocross and of-road and any web sites or stats that say a dirt bike is safer than a four wheeler give me websites and articles to back me up

i would consider for "motocross" that is a yz85, cr85, rm85 i started out on a yz85 when i was about 12 but for motocross stay with the bikes that are 65, 85, 125, or 250, or 450

and make sure the models are yz cr or rm there the best for motocross

I would say to look in your local classifieds in the paper. I would say a YZ100 would fit you....or a kx100. Theres also a site I got my dirtbike off of, well I got a small 90cc and a 125, for under $900 for both with shipping. There amazing bikes, and I'm completly satisfied with them, take a look...

I would recommend the 125, it has a 125 motor but its body size is about a 100. I'm 17 and its a bit small for me, so It would fit you well if your 12. All there bikes are on sale now too, so you can get a 125 in the color of your choice for about $500. :)

Have a look on craigslist and local classifieds for any of these.  Klx125, ttr125 or crf150f.  All of those are basic trail bikes that would suit that age group.  If they are intending doing some mx those would however not be suitable as they are not made to jump.  So if you want a bike for mx look at the crf150r as that is an mx bike.  The 4 strokes are a bit easier for off road riding.  

I personally consider four wheelers to be more dangerous than racing mx or riding a 2 wheel bike as when a four wheeler lands on top of you the chances of getting hurt are a lot greater.

Want to race.... Honda Cr80RR... Never heard of one. Its called the expert... Check your local AMA rules to be sure it is class legal. Its a beast! Runs awesome and the only thing I can give you to back it up is, I had one and loved it. The thing is seriously sweet! I won district 11 on one before they ban them. Sold it to the neighbor. 1 year later he won district 11 fair curcuit on it... It was never rebuilt.
