Mom lives in Lafayette, I live in Menlo Park..we both need a doc..if u can please recommend doctors based on some of the following criteria, I'd really appreciate it, thx :)

- gives great quality care

- has the training and background- not just "i read enuf to get As & make a good living", but attends seminars, keeps up to date w/latest information...a Deepak Chopra type

- actually CARES and listens and doesnt try to rush you to make their next appt

- talks about prevention not just a quick drug solution- I hate drugs (only if there's NO OTHER option), more alternative-health focus

- encourages you to ask questions and explains things clearly.

- treats patients w/ respect, doc or nurse returns calls with a question about your care promptly

- you feel comfortable w/them, trust them, friendly staff

- easy to talk to- good communication skills

- u dont have to wait insanely long wait times/ making an appointment isnt strenuous

- you can be seen on the same day if there's an urgent need

  1. lamorinda pediatrics

    it's in lafayette, ca

  2. Log on to John Muir Hospital.  You can get reccomendations for specific fields and you can also research their respective backgrounds.

A second option would be Alta Bates Hospital in Berkeley.

You will run into appt. times as there has been  a large population growth and a shortage of doctors.  However, I have found that if there is a urgent need you will be taken care of promptly.

You didnt,t specify your ages, but I suspect your mother should search out a doctor specializing in intenal medicine for seniors.  Maybe you just need an internist.
