Best dvd player for...?

Question

quality- I have a 1080p tv w/ hdmi and want to max out our viewing ability

compatibility- my husband has hundreds of regular dvd's that we still love to watch. We would love to not have to replace his whole collection and just upgrade the look of them.

HDDVD- looking to get a player

Blue ray- not a necessity. He does not know yet but I got him a PS3 for Christmas so we should be fine with this

Is there anything out that can upgrade my current dvd's and play HD DVD's

Buy the Toshiba HD DVD players - A30 or the A35. Not only does it play HD DVDs it's also a very good in upconverting DVDs.

You'll need the usual HDMI cables as well.

You can also get the HD-A3 model. Will be cheaper, and is still an excellent player. It outpucs at 1080i, but your TV will de-interlace to 1080p, and quality will be the same.  I have an HD-A2 and it is VERY good at upconverting regular DVDs.
