Question:

Best energy running food??

like before a track race, not long distance just like a 1600m. which do you like best??

powerbars, granola bars, jelly bean sport bean things etc. which ones work?? i personally like clif shot blocks. can you buy these at a regular grocery store?? any other good energy food for running?

  1. Dairy products are bad to eat before running. Do not eat any of them until after. Fruits and veggies are a good source of energy and drinking water won't get you thirsty either.


  2. I think that you just need to try out foods and see what works for you, even though I know you probably don't want to mess up your race. I run the mile and I used to think that I needed a power bar and a gatorade before every race. Then i switched to pretzels and water. Now I sometimes eat saltines, but i've mostly switched to chewy bars (chocolate chip and smores). I usually eat one about 45 minutes before my race, but that's just because my stomach always freaks out when i'm nervous. I know that eating a chewy bar before a race sounds really weird, but it's worked for me so far, and I haven't felt sick in a race yet this year.

  3. i wouldnt recommend drinking sports drinks like gatorade right before a race. i know that i get very nervous, and it only makes me feel sick. i only drink water 48 hrs before a track race.

    i also eat south beach living or slim fast peanut butter protein bars. you can find both of these at a regular grocery store. they have at least 1/5 of your daily protein and are really good. they give me lots of energy to run my hardest =)

  4. I love to go on long runs too , i personally think that power bars and gatorade are the best things for you to use for track.

  5. banana.. powerbars/granola are kinda heavy to eat before a race unless your running long distance.

  6. personally I think that a simple bagel with peanut butter is better than any sport food. Pair it with vitamin water and your good to go!

  7. Bananas are the best foods if u want energy. They're 100 calories but they're really good and high in energy and protein

  8. the girl that said bannanas give you energy is stupid...this is the question she asked......Today when i did the mile, the first half i was the first one done and then i guess my body just slowed me down, but i didn't stopp running, so how do i keep a fast consistant pace without getting tired. I mean i was so pissed when the coach said my time. My friends said it was a realy good time, bu i wanted better!.................see she doesnt know what she is talking about
