Hi all,

I want to know which execise will be best/easiest/most effective for me to do at home without going to the gym. I have an exercise bike, weights, a skipping rope and a twist board.

I, really unfit and want to get into shape, not really sure where to start though!

Obviously my exercise will be accompanied by healthy eating too.

Thanks for answering!

  1. You can do allot of exercises at home with body weight and a few dumbbells.  As a beginner you should start with a full body workout consisting of one exercise per body part.  Perform all the exercises back to back without rest then repeat them all again to complete 2 to three sets.

dumbbell squats: for legs and core

    plank and reverse crunches

push ups or dumbbell chest press for chest

pullups or dumbbell rows for back

dumbbell shoulder press for your shoulders

Biceps and tricep exercises are optional since you work those in the back and chest exercises.

    dumbbell curls for biceps

    dumbbell kickbacks for triceps.

  2. First you gotta get your cardio up. So depending on how unfit you are, try doing 15minutes on the bike per day of moderate to heavy stress. Or increase the time if you can manage it.

Once you are confident on the bike try buying 15 minute exercise for dummies dvd. Got some good basic weight exercises and aerobic training on it.

You wont see improvement for at least 3 weeks, so dont give up.

  3. JUMP ROPE! For sure. It's the best, trust me. It works everything.

  4. Skipping is the best.  Although you should vary your activity so just take it in turns to use your equipment - like a daily circuit.
