They will be for a 2008 HD Road King. I'm not looking to shake windows in my neighborhood....just something louder than stock. I've been looking at Cobra slip on's.

  1. A  true dual full exhaust system will always be better than just slip on mufflers. But there are a lot of good mufflers out there like Reinhart, Sampson,  Vance & Hines, D & D, and many others. I went with the true dual system from Cobra exhaust.

  2. not sure about cobra, but i can tell you vance & hines is probably not what you are looking for.  they are loud.  maybe samson.  also, you don't need full system to raise the volume.  changing the slip ons will work and you can do it yourself, but your electronic fuel injection will have to be tuned by the shop.  hope this helps.

  3. The nicest sounding pipes i have heard lately are true dual Rineharts.I have a buddy that has a month old set off his Roadking for 550 bucks.Sure wish they would fit my 02. For slip ons it would have to be Vance & Hines dresser ovals.

  4. I have had many exhaust systems.  I have had no luck with Cobra.  I currently have Rinehart slip ons on my Ultra.  They added HP and torque.  I love the sound.  Somewhat quiet when not on the throttle but they wake up when you want them to.  They are a deeper sound than Vance and Hines.  I have heard the ovals and I think they sound tinny.  Rineharts are very popular for the touring class bikes.  If you go to youtube.com you can search for sound clips and get a feel for the sound you are looking for.  With slip ons there is no need to re map.  If you go with a true dual sustem you will be looking at about $1k to 1.5K.  A good true dual system will cost you about $800.00 and a fuel manager with dyno tuning will run about $700.00.

Good luck in your decision and ride safe.

  5. look at the Reinheart true duals ,great pipes for the Road king !

  6. vance & hines

  7. The best way to find a set of pipes you will like is to go on a poker run or something similar. when you hear a bike you like, talk to the owner. Compliments like' your bike sounds great" really help break the ice.Find out if they have cams or other add on performance parts, as that can change the way the bike sounds also.Sound is persepted differently from one person to the next. the pipes you like may sound bad to someone else. The same pipes on a   Sporty will sound completely different on a Roadking. The pipes I have on my 2005 will sound different on your bigger 2008.Don't worry about dyno numbers, you aren't racing, just be sure the pipes you choose aren't robbing you of power in the low and midrange , where you ride most, for big numbers in the 5500-6500 RPM range ,where you rarely if ever ride.

  8. If you just want sound, slip ons are the way to go. If you get a full system, better check dyno results and not take their word on power increases. The power may be in some stupid RPM range you'll never use. I LOVE Road Kings!

  9. You know your bike has O2 sensers, Right? Doing anything to the exhaust or air cleaner without remapping your your ECU can cause lots of damage to your engine. To change to exhaust safely can run you about $1500-2000. And if you do with out the dealer knowing it , it will probably void your warranty. Hope this helps.
