I have always had red eyes in the morning or late at night, what is a good eye drop that helps it out. I I use visine from time to time but is there others out there? Or even prescription eye drops.

  1. Using 'redness reducing' drops on a regular basis is a BAD idea- once a year, fine. If you need it regularly, it's time to see an ophthalmologist.

    No! Absolutely not.

First, visine is preserved with BAK, which is NOT something you want on your eye- it is disruptive to the tear film and essentially toxic to corneas. Not good stuff!

Second, vasoconstrictors rebound. Red goes away, rebound redness sets in, you use drop, rebound redness sets in, you use drop more often...

  2. Yeah, visine and other such drops are not good for your eyes.  You should see if it is from allergies or just dry eye.  We always suggest Refresh Tears, it's a lubricating drop.  Go see your doctor to find out what your red eye is from, and they'll be better able to tell you what to get!
