If youre just burning to file so you can watch it on your computer some other time, its the same if youre burning a cd. If you wanna watch it on a tv or something, you can us idvd.

You just use a DVD Creator to burn them to DVD.

A lot of free converters, if they don't have a proper decoder and encoder attached will do a hatchet job to make it work.

I always use Wondershare Mac Video Converter, it  can convert video files such as MPEG1, MPEG2, MP4, 3GP, 3G2, AVI, Mpeg TS/TP (for HD Video) and output video formats including MOV, FLV, MP4, AVI, and MPG,then you can burn mpg to dvd

idvd comes with your mac you have to have a superdrive though or you cannot burn them and you will have to buy a dvd burner
