for me, it was always the Atlantic side because it's closer. Pacific is like 2000 miles away. =(

Best place to learn  Seal Beach or Belmont in Long Beach, the breakwater keeps the size down but they break nice

The best place to learn to surf is probably somewhere that the waves aren't to big or to difficult to surf. I learned at Santa Claus Lane, Carpinteria, CA when i was about 2 or 3.
