  1. i prefer trilene or spider wire, i usually got the the smallest diameter that still has a fairly high lbs test. but it varies on what you are fishing for

  2. spider wire super mono, x*x or ez....

just tried sufix, so far, so good.

    ironsilk is good, too....

i like the spider wire super mono x*x

  3. P-Line Halo, Berkley Vanish Transition in crimson, or Sufix Elite...The best in the world, or at least that I have used.

They are many choices, and many types, so your budget and needs will play a factor, for most general fishing, get the Sufix Elite.

It is affordable, gets the job done, you get a LOT on one spool for 6-8 dollars, is clear, strong, holds knots well, etc...

You can rack your brain and spend lots of money trying them all out, so good luck! :D

  4. There is no all round "best" fishing line.  There are numerous lines out there, all good for certain situations.  I have noticed on these answers when there is a question about line, you get alot of answers stating some type of braided line or spun line (such as spider wire, power pro, and any other number of makes).  They are very good in some applications, but not good for other applications.  They are great in applications where a sensative line is needed and where you want no stretch.  There are other applications where stretch is not only wanted, it is needed, and those line simply have no stretch.  I use various monofiliment, braided and dacron lines, depending on what I am doing.  If I were fishing in a situation where monofiliment would do fine, that is what I will use, simply because braided lines cost a heck of alot more than mono lines.  In clear water situations, I wouldn't use braidedd line, it is much more visible than mono, and if I did, I would certainly use a leader of mono or flourocarbon.  When I am fishing deep !00 feet or more, for grouper or snapper, I want braided line, you don't need near as much weight as you would with mono, there is no stretch, so I can feel the bites better, and it is smaller diameter, so there is not nearly as much problem due to current.  You need to look at what or where you are fishing, and adjust your gear to that, by doing so, you increase your chance of success and you save money in the long term (and short term)  I would not buy a 20 dollar plus roll of braided line if I could use a 10 or less roll of mono for the same job and the braided adds no major benefit.  I hope this helps, good luck.

  5. I agree with the other poster, each line has their own uses, a good quality co-polymer line like Berkley or stren will cover most situations, if you want good bite detection and a high strength to diameter ratio then try braid, if you want a line that is almost invisible in water try fluorocarbon. Good brands to try are Berkley, stren, sufix, power pro.
