There is no easy answer to this. The best flat screen HDTV for me might be totally wrong for you! The perfect flat screen HDTV for YOU will depend on your budget, space considerations, lighting conditions, sources and viewing distances. If you go into a store and they are not asking you these questions then that person at that store can never find the best flat screen HDTV for you. It stinks, I know but you probably will  have to go to a store and talk to a salesperson who knows what they are doing to find the best HDTV for you. Try to find a place where they are not on commision like Best Buy (or just go to Best Buy ;)

Assuming you are really interested, and not just bored, to get a realistic answer post your budget and, hopefully, the screen size you want/need. It's pretty silly for some one to tell you about a 52" 1080p for $4000 when you only have room for a 26" screen and can only pay $400.

BTW, you can get some excellent TV answers here in Home Theater, but posting in the "Consumer Electronics-TV" will usually get you more and better answers on TV specific questions.
