Looking to travel from London mid-November, and returning about 5 days later. Has anyone got any tips re. websites or airlines?

If you are looking for flights between London and Catania, then you will have to stop over in Milan or Rome (if you are flying with Alitalia for example). There is actually a direct flight London-Catania though it operates only till October 27th (and will restart next spring).

If Palermo is fine too, you may want to take a look at http://www.ryanair.com that offers a flight to/from London Stansted at interesting tariffs.
