  1. Well, i know when i get married it's going to be a little of everything so that everyone can find something to eat.  I think its a bad choice when people just go for what they like, like Mexican or something.  I was at a wedding in the past and didn't like any of the food, so i was still starving.  You should go for a mix of southern foods and diverse foods too, like some mexican, some chicken, wings, hot wings, potato salad, italian (like some pasta), veggies, fruits, bread and desert.  That would be some amazing food!

  2. I always like receptions with buffets better than plated dinners, because then you get to pick what you want and take as much or as little as you choose.

  3. food

  4. italian. but i'm biased:)

  5. CAKE!!!

  6. We did heavy passed appetizers during the cocktail hour and a buffet during the reception.

We had a pasta station, carving station, veggies, green salad and rolls.

As long as you feed 'em a lot, people are generally happy.

  7. I agree, some sort of Buffet is the best way to go.  Because if you think about when you go out for dinner with a group of people, not everyone gets the same exact thing, and usually they will like to choose what they order, rather than have someone else pick it for them.  This will also mean, less money wasted for you, if you let them pick!

I just recently went to a wedding and they had a buffet format, some food they had were:

bowl of different fruits and berries

    little croissant sandwiches

asparagus wrapped in cream cheese and turkey

    Swedish Meatballs

    a really good pea salad

    regular salad

    cookies...etc

It was all very very good, and everyone, including me, was very happy!

Good luck, have fun, and congratulations on your wedding!

  8. It's hard to say because the guestlist will help determine what you can serve. I am having butlered and tabled appetizers followed by a sit-down dinner ending with a Viennese Sweets table, an ice cream bar and take-home wedding cake. Our dinner will have a house salad followed by a sorbet, 3 entree selections (fish, filet or chieck), seasonal marinated vegetables and roasted potatoes. Of course, rolls and butter and that junk will be available as will wine (we are having it at a winery) and open bar.

We don't have any vegetarians on our guest list so we didn't have to incldue a veggie entree but if you know you have them then you could try to accomodate with a pasta or veggie lasagna.

Prices will vary based on sit-down versus buffet and our sit-down is less expensive than the buffet at the venue we chose.

The "ideal" menu is subjective to the attendees. As long as you have plenty of food, everyone should be happy.

    Good luck!
