the 4-4-2 seems to be a thing of the past now with a lot of teams going 4-1-3-1-1 or 4-4-1-2

  1. Well a 4-4-1-2 would be pretty effective considering you'd be playing with 12 to their 11! But anyways, the modern trend seems to be the 4-2-3-1 with two d-mids sitting back, build the attacks from deep and allowing the other 3 midfielders to really push forward and attack supporting the lone striker. It can be effective but only with a world class striker in my opinion. I still like the 4-1-3-2 formation like the 4-2-3-1 but one d-mid sitting back rather than 2, which gives more responsibility and requires  a high caliber player out of your lone d-mid but you get 2 strikers compared to one which is a big difference.

    4-2-3-1

  2. What about he really old way   5- -3 --2   Have scores like 11--9   etc.    bit of entertainment  for the fans..

  3. 3-3-4 so you can get plenty of goals.

No slide tackles allowed and travelling goalie!

If it ends in a draw after extra time, take a person off every five minutes until there is a winning goal.

  4. the pats use 3 linemen, 4 backers, 2 corners down low and 2 safeties.  Its been working for them
