www.freebielist.com - fantastic site and everything is really free. They include free samples, software, webmaster freebies, competitions, web freebies, fun stuff, communication (things like email and sms). Brilliant!

My favorite site for finding freeware is http://www.techsupportalert.com the site is organized and provides unbiased reviews in addition to descriptions and links.  They usually provide a top pick in addition to a few other alternatives.

download.com is great, you can download all kinds of stuff for free and most of which is free for life, other stuff will be a free trial, but its a great site, you should check it out.
