VW Diesel TDI's are highly respected for their MPG.  Nowadays all sorts of cars come with hybrid options(Sedans,SUV's pick up trucks, sports cars etc.)  so it's up to you with what kind of vehicle you want.  I could be unhelpful and give you a simple answer like 'buy an Honda or ride a bike' but it depends on your lifestyle.

always keep your frontend in alinement, tires at the right pressure, always have a tune up done about every six to eight months depending on how much you drive your car. Also believe it or not. the bigger your exhaust pipe the less back pressure ht ebetter the gas milage will be.    sorry about the spelling
