  2. 12 hour fitness down on 3rd avenue. it is great! you will just love it. they are giving out 3 month free passes and T-shirts right now. So you can try it out for a while and see if you like it.my girlfriend has been going there with me for 2 years now and she loves it.

  3. Good question and I think that depends on you and your level of experience and knowledge about working out and how fit you are.  I know some gyms that don't want and don't take newbies that are pretty hardcore and have a strong core of people.  These tend to be key type gyms where all the members have a key.  Then you have some gyms that are fluff and puff; they are nicely equipped, clean, and will provide you with a place to work out but sometimes their is little in the way of individual help for some programs in them or their are hours when they are really crowded.  That is why it is good to visit one several times at different hours before joining it.  They still tend to fit the needs of about 80% of the people out there though.  You now also have these 24 hour key type gyms for people that have weird hours and weird work schedules.  Being somewhat of an insomniac though I can't imagine getting much help or finding someone to answer my questions at 2 AM in the morning if I needed it or wanted it in such a place that would not be falling asleep.  I would pick a place that has someone that can help you and is there to answer questions and where the staff will take more of an interest in you and your progress to start with that has hours that somewhat fit your schedule.  That may not always be the closest or most affordable and it pays to shop a little.  I would also not rule out YMCAs as some of them are newer, have a variety of programs and great facilities for you depending on where you live.
