    But you need to know that audio needs to be captured on other equipment. A good DigiDesign ProTools rig with some Sennheiser or AudioTechnica mics will probably be just fine along with some additional sound design work.

    If you are looking for high definition camcorders "normal" people might use (that capture audio, too)...

    Entry level:

    Canon HV20, HV30, Sony HDR-HC7, HC9

    Mid Range:

    Sony HDR-FX1, FX7, HVR-A1U

    High end (prosumer):

    Panasonic HVX200, Canon XHA1, Sony HVR-V1U, Z1U

    All are miniDV tape (with the exception of the HVX200 which uses P2 memory cards), capture DV and HDV, have audio-in connectivity (either single 1/8" stereo mic jack or two XLR jacks), auto and manual zoom, focus, exposure/iris and audio.

    Canon, Panasonic, Sony and JVC have another fews steps  up...
