Hi,

I want to buy a home theater system that is reasonably price (like under or a little above $1k). I found these, but not sure if they are good:

Do you know of something better? I am in Canada.

Thanks!

  1. There is a Denon system out there that you should be able to get online, it is the single best h.t.i.b. Ive seen, Denon model DHT 487DV. Bose subs really suck and they are wayoverpriced, pioneer speakers are no good. The Denon has quality everything, but it is seperate components. Receiver w/hdmi, sub, speakers and an upconverting dvd all for $700. Up grade your cables and wire & you should be around $1000.  If you really want the all in one dvd and receiver combo to save space you will lose out on the speakers and the sub wont be powered. But if you have no choice the pioneer.

  2. i personally love bose its good sound quality with great bass but out of the two i would choose the pioneer just cuz its pioneer i dont trust samsung cuz i had 1 that broke within a year for putting the volume on medium-high if u r going to choose 1 get 1 with an HDMI input in it just because the later technology seems that in a few years that all the cables may be HDMI cables (did i word that right) newaiz the pioneer 1 would be greater o also get 1 with more watts to get more powere in ur sound

  3. pioneer is way better or a bose

  4. No matter what you buy, buy one with at least on digital audio input (optical preferred, but coax is OK).

It is nice to be able to connect your HDTV or another Blu Ray DVD player later on via s/pdif.

  5. +1 for the Denon.  If you can get a hold of one, it will be better than either one of these.

  6. I also echo the recommendation for Denon.

You should also consider HTiB kits by Onkyo and Yamaha.

    Pioneer is okay.

I'd steer clear of the Samsung.

DO NOT get Bose; they are overrated and you can buy much better stuff for the money.

Or, instead of buying an HTiB, build your system with components you choose.
