Best home theator for 300$ and?

It has an HDMI interface, which means if you ever want to hook it  up to a tv  in true high definition, this unit is equipped for that.  It comes  with an up-scaling DVD player, unlike the Panasonic mentioned above.  You get 1000 total watts for this system, which is more than 100 watts per channel.  It also comes with an ipod docking station, so you can utilize an ipod via your system remote control.  

If you don't like Sony (the are some critics among the fans),  you can check out Onkyo.  They make outstanding home theater systems as well for around your price range.  Best Buy doesn't carry this brand, but Circuit City does.  Hope this helped.
