Also, do I really need to buy the whole thing? Cant I just get the speakers and hook them up with the existing dvd player that I have?

  1. Push your budget a little higher and get Yamaha AV61.

You can't just add speakers as you need to amplify the signal.

The Yamaha is an absolute bargain at the moment, see attached link. Plus, you can connect other components to it, VCR, DVD, Sky etc.

  2. You're not going to get much for £200 (my speaker cables cost more than £200).

Additionally, Samsung speakers have very poor sound quality.  You will be very disappointed if you buy them.

Spend a bit more cash for something decent.  You'll be glad that you did!

  3. Please, Please do not spend your hard earned money on this rubbish, just look at the shops that are pushing it !!! you can get the 'Harman Kardon's SoundSticks II', for just £99.00 SoundSticks II employs a new computer-optimised multi-band parametric equalisation and Harman's unique "capacitance touch" control buttons on the right satellite allow for direct access to volume control. or you could have a look at the 'Creative I-Trigue' or 'GigaWorks Range'....
