What are your horses' favorite treats you have made them. I've been to a couple websites, but I want to know the kinds people have tried and loved. I'm not really into the kind that take like 20 dif. ingredients and and hour to make.

  1. Making homemade treats can be fun, but it'll be messy! You can try looking up some recipes on the internet. Most don't require too many ingredients. And my horse will eat just about anything I make! He loves them no matter what. Most horses aren't picky, so have fun! Make up your own recipes! Basically, use your common sense when choosing ingredients. When in doubt as to whether a certain ingredient would be bad for your horse, don't use it!

Here are some good ingredients you can add to your concoctions:

    - Oats/ whatever kind of feed you have on hand

    - Molasses

    - Honey

    - Sugar

    - Small chunks of apple or carrot

    - Breakfast cereal

If you want recipes, here's a link to a website with a bunch of horsey treats! Many of the recipes contain ingredients that you would probably already have in your house!

  2. I made a horse treat once (and there is no "right" recipe- you ]just have to feel for the consistency you want. This is where I started off, then I kept adding more of the ingredients...

    ~

4 cups of oats (or sweet feed if you can)

1 cup of molasses (or honey- it'll be yucky either way)

    1 carrot cut into chunks

    1 apple, sliced thinly

    ~

Mix them all together (it'll be sticky and gross) in a (disposable) bowl. If you want to, add sugary sweet your horse likes. I added sprinkles, peppermints, and candies for an extra treat. When you feed it to your horse, let them eat it out of the bowl or scoop it into their food bucket. My horse liked it so much, she tried to eat the bowl once the treat was gone! :)

  3. Well unfortunately I dont have a horse. I am getting one soon!! Well I am not sure. I dont eat them so.. jk. I would use some surgar cubes, molases, sweet feed, carrots, and apples. Make your own recipe see what horse thinks of it!

  4. I have found that they are often really hard to make and kind of a pain but most anything you make they will like. Try looking for quick easy horse treat recipes...or you could just buy some.

  5. I feed the ponies across the road apples, carrots, and peppermint.  They love it.

  6. bread, mints and beer(but dont give them it before u ride)!!

  7. not quite home made

my horse loved chocolate paddlepops and billabongs.

he used to nick them from the kids at the stables when they werent watching.

    Sugar cubes- ooo the obsession

    vegemite sandwhiches

  8. My Girlfriend  loves sliced apples. Thats about the only treat she gets or want. Unless its the ripe pears from our pear tree, wich she gets down by herself. Gotta keep her away from it when they are ripe or we never get any.
