Best insect repellent out there?

What is your fave? I need one to repel them, especially horseflies for my cobby pony =]

Farnam Endure....I've used them all.  this stays on, won't sweat off, and works better than anything I've tried in years.

Citronella, rosemary and garlic all repel insects naturally with varying degrees of success - but your poor pony will pong!

anything that has citronella in is very good.  also feeding garlic to your pony can act as a repellent.

in the field ponies can wear a mesh rug that can cover from head to tail.  these are not too expensive and would save using the fly repellent all the time.

hope they buzz off when you ride, if not put citronella oil on yourself.

that scares the flies away.

I have been using TriTec14 for the last few years and I have found that it works better for me than a lot of others. I have tried several and it is the best one for South Arkansas. We have a lot of mosquitoes, deerflies, horseflies & who knows what else!!!!! Hope this helps.

I have used everythinig out there, and I can tell you by far, "War Paint" is the very best. It stays on and they don't sweat it off. It is a bit pricey, but well worth it. And it lasts longer than anything I have used too.

Our horseflies are awful this year :(

I don't thing "regular" fly spray works on them so I bought Farnam's biting fly repellent, and I think it works great with horse flies.  Haven't seen any near my horse since I started using it.

I use NAF off DEET or NAF off extra :)

A garlic supplement can work wonders too!

If the flies are a real problem you can try a fly sheet and mask for in the field, i have a mask for my mare, she doesnt mind it and it works well!

For when you're riding you can get nose nets and nets to clip on your bridle over the eyes, to be honest i have a nose net and its rubbish, when she goes into canter it blows up in her face, which is funny but useless :P I find my fly fringe works though!

i have used a lot of the brands out there and i lthink off works the best. it keeps all the bugs off of them. be sure to get the sweat resistant, becasue if you don't they will sweat it off really fast. the sweat resistent stays on unless they are soaked to the bone. you can get it at walmart, the dollar stores, and even gas stations.
