Best international volunteer program?

Question

My best friend and I are uni students. We get a 3 month break over the summer. Since finishing high school we've spoke about volunteering overseas somewhere - we're finally of appropriate age and have the time and money to do this. We live in Australia.

I'm a computer student and she is a nursing student but we don't have our degrees yet so technically aren't qualified, thus we are expecting to pay for this experience.

Can anyone recommend some good organizations to go through?

My husband and I plan on going through Amerispan. If you don't like the look of it, try VolunteerAbroad.com.

*Edit* Peace Corps service tends to be a 27 month commitment, so that's not for them. Try the sites I listed.

Join the peace corps. You'll probably have to go to some refuge camp in Africa or Asia. It's sponsored by the US govt. so I'm not sure if you can get in but it's worth a try.
