  1. i would go with the boss its way beater eq is equalizer  thats what it stands for

  2. Hey mate

    So many questions! hehe

First off - I can't tell you how good or bad Boss is cos I have never experienced it before.  JVC is a good brand but I would not say great. From my experiences, Pioneer make the best Head Units (aka Car radios).  I would suggest DEH P2950, P3950 or P4950.

All of these will have better features than the Boss or the JVC and you can get them pretty cheap!

An equaliser is a function in which you can change the loudness of various pitch levels.  There are 2 different types - preset EQs or customised EQs.  The former (which the Boss has) means that they have 5 levels of equaliser settings.  The latter (which the JVC may have as Im not sure what iEQ actually means) means that you can customise the sound to your liking i.e. make the bass, midrange and trebel all at different settings.  Customised EQs are better than Preset EQs.

Subwoofer output means you can change the subwoofer volume independently of the volume of the speakers.  Only relevant if you have a subwoofer.

All good Head Units will give you the same bass.  If you want to increase bass I suggest you buy some good speakers which can play low Hz (JBL are great) or a subwoofer (hooked up to a decent amplifer).

Bottom line: if you want the best basic Head Unit for the money you can't go past the Pioneer DEH P2950.  If you plan to build up a system, look at P3950 or P4950 (the former if you intend to only use 1 amplifer, the latter if you want a proper system).

  3. GET ALPINE OR PIONEER IF YOU HAVE 1/2 a brain

  4. I'm not sure what iEQ is but I've had a JVC put in my Jeep and I had one put in my Civic and I was satisfied with both JVC's that I've had. I've heard of BOSS but I'm not sure what quality they have. Good luck with picking.
