Question:

Best kind of motorcycle for beginner?

I'm looking into buying a motorcycle. I just got my permit after going through a class that taught us how to ride, and I'm trying to figure out what kind of bike I want.

I'm considering a sports bike, but I might prefer a cruiser or a standard bike.

I'm wondering if a sports bike gets uncomfortable for long trips maybe, since you're hunched over while riding it. Is it bad for visibility as well?

I'm looking for good recommendations of starter bikes. I'm looking for used bikes too, so keep that in mind.

  1. for a bike that's sporty yet comfy on a long ride you are looking at a sport touring or standard style / try the suzuki sv650 or gsx500f or the kawasaki zzr600 or similar  bikes.

  2. I recommend for you a Suzuki Katana 600.  Reason: it is a sport/touring bike.  It is a low cost bike; used, it has the look of a sport bike but more of a cruiser feel.  It is a great beginner bike because it does not have uncontrollable power; it won't bring the front end up unexpectedly.  It also has the winding powerband (& sound) of a crotch rocket but at a slightly lower HP and torque rating.  Whatever you decide to buy, I would not buy anything under a 600 size due to the fact that anything under that and you won't get the feel of an average bike.  For example: if you buy a 250 Ninja, it won't perform to anyones expectations that is over the age of 13 anyways.  These smaller bikes also weigh a lot less than the average bike, so you won't get the true feel and how to properly handle a normal bike.
