You should try the Laptop I have.

The Advent 6301. It has everything you need, and is perfect for the basics and much more.

Intel Pentium Dual Core Processor T2370, (1.73 GHz, 533 MHz FSB, 1 MB Cache), Windows Vista (R) Home Premium, 2 GB Memory, 120 GB Hard Drive, 17" Widescreen monitor.

It has enough battery life to run a dvd for almost 3 hours on the low power setting so battery life very good. Also a very good DVD drive.

huge hard drive, decent memory, Windows Vista surprisingly easy to use.

Wireless enabled so you can surf the internet around your home, which is brilliant.
