i've been shooting 100 grains of pyrodex with a 250 grain hornady sst. decently accurate at 50 but at 100 it's all over the place.

how high at 50 to be dead on at 100.

remember i'm using 100 grains not 150.

  1. since a youth model rifle has a shorter barrel to accommodate the smaller stature of a young person, the accuracy is greatly reduced. i suggest you take the powder down from 100 grains to 70 or so. the problem is that the bullet is going so fast down the barrel that the rifling inside hasn't got a chance to grip the bullet and instead of a nice spiral action from the bullet, it is simply pushing it's way through the barrel giving it, essentially, the accuracy of a musket or a shotgun. it could also be that you are using a solid lead bullet without a copper jacket. the copper jacket allows for better grip from higher velocity loads. hope this helps you out.
