Best match on CBS was Carano-Young?

Question

In my opinion,it was the only thing even approaching a decent bout.I also think CBS really made a mistake signing with EliteXC,who seems to be more of a carnival sideshow than a serious promotion.

Your opinions please.

You know the reason why it was the best, they switched refs, the other ref was stopping fights at the wrong time. I wanted to see it go 3 though

I really enjoyed the Carano-Young match, though at times it looked like Carano wasn't in that good shape...too early on she just looked gassed, but I wonder if that had more to do with her not making weight.  I know that something like that really messes with you mentally, and I wonder if perhaps that had her off her game slightly.

I thought that Robbie Lawler's fight was great too though...it's a shame that it had to be stopped.  I think that this fight should have been the "main event"...the only reason the Kimbo Slice fight was the main event was b/c of all the attention that he's received on YouTube.

First of all CBS was courageous for putting MMA on free TV

John McCain wants the sport banned and he has his supporters

was it sort of like the XFL?  Yeah but don't lots of sporting events include dancers, music, lights, and fireworks?  Just watch the super bowl or the Olympics.  

UFC already has a contract

and Pride dissolved so we got a fun filled night that lasted too long and made ratings.  It might have brought in some new fans who aren't able to watch all the pay per view events or spike TV.

Scott Smith vs Robbie Lawler, though I think either of them are really that good, but great match. Carano/Young good match too, but second if I have to choose.

Carano didn't make weight?  That's pretty lame, especially for a fighter of her reputation.  Very unprofessional.  Did she give a reason why?  Someone email me if you know the story please.

Much as it sounds like EliteXC butchered their production, I'm glad they featured a female fight.  I think women's MMA has more of a future than any other women's sport right now, and way more than any women's combat sport in history.

The Carano-Young fight was decent but how could you not like the Lawler-Smith fight?  In my mind, that was clearly the most entertaining and was unfortunately stopped before it turned into a fight of the year contender.

By the way, to the person below me, McCain changed his opinion recently about MMA.  In fact, McCain recently told Britain’s Daily Telegraph, “The sport has grown up. The rules have been adopted to give its athletes better protections and to ensure fairer competition.”

From what I've seen, absolutely.  Kinda wish Carano would have been able to lock the choke in, but I would have rather seen her throw one of those gorgeous round kicks right in the ear after she knocked Young to the mat instead of going for the choke.  She has tremendous kicks and should have used that to get the KO.  Bad ringside communication...
