I reside in Dublin,Ireland but am a national of a non-EU country therefore I need a UK visa to go to Belfast which is absolutely ridiculous geographically, politicaly and historically speaking.

I only need to go to Belfast for 2 days, dont have time to go through the whole visa process, can I slip into Belfast for 2 days unnoticed

Need a prompt and effective answer

  1. try coming down as a tourist as i dont think you need a visa for that you could get the enterprise down from connolly station i dont think anyone would notice as its only two days is a visa really necessary

  2. hi you

bus or train is the best form of transport

  3. Easy enough if you go in up the M1, have gone up the North several times in the last 2-3 months and has never been a checkpoint there. But it's usually easier if you can get a friend who's an Irish national to take you up in an Irish registered car. Forget about trains and buses, most ask that you take your passport with you, which you obviously can't do. It's quite easy to get up, once you have a little bit of help. Another option, although longer, is to get a bus to Letterkenny, walk across the border to Tyrone, then get a bus to Belfast. It involves lots of travelling, but you're very unlikely to be noticed. Hope it helps

  4. I'm from Belfast and the Irish border is completely open. You do not need to provide any form of documentation whatsoever when travelling from the south of Ireland to the north of Ireland

  5. go on the train , there is no checkpoints there. Trust me xx

  6. The best way is the train.  The slow train stops at every station on the way, but the fast ones (8 during the day) arrive in 2 hours 10 minutes   -  first stop is Drogheda, next stop Belfast (or perhaps Newry in between). Check out

And there are NO checkpoints whatever.  You don't need a UK visa.  You certainly won't be asked for one.

  7. just drive down, as far as i know, there are no security checks or anything. you should be fine!

  8. I have taken the train many times and was never checked.

  9. Just take the train from Connolly, takes no time at all.

  10. you may try to go by bus from the main bus station in the city center. When you cross the border, sometimes there is a checkpoint, sometimes there is not... If there is, send us a postcard from jail

  11. Train from Connolly Station.

  12. Take the train.

Why is it ridiculous? It's a different country. As Belgium is to France.

It is totally wrong to say you don't need a UK Visa - if you need one for the Republic and it doesn't cover the whole of the EU then you'll need one for the UK.
