  1. deffinately piano/. but if you cant do that. learn what the strings are all tuned to and the chromatic scale.... so the 4th string is E. and then the first fret would be F and so on. so its E F F#  G G# A A# B C C# D D#. remember that

  2. Learn to play the piano.

  3. Not sure if you mean the notes on "bass guitar" or the notes of "bass clef".  Here's a helpful hint on learning the notes of "bass clef" (as I have no experience with bass guitar).

I teach my students to use landmarks, long before I can expect them to remember cute little sayings.  The job of the Bass Clef Sign (originally referred to as the "F clef") is to show us where the F below middle C is.  Line 4 (counting from the bottom) runs right between the two dots of the bass clef sign.  That is where F is.  The next landmark is easy... middle C (first leger line above the bass staff).  Then, I teach them to find the "bass C", which is on space 2 (again counting from the bottom).... then bass F, which is the space just below the staff.  Once you know these "landmarks", it's easy to figure out the notes in between.

There are also the cute sayings:  Bass clef lines, reading from the bottom up - "Good Boys Do Fine Always" (or G-B-D-F-A); Bass clef spaces, reading from the bottom up - "All Cows Eat Grass" (or, as my daughter suggested, "All Cows Emit Gas").

    I hope that helps.

  4. I find tabs an easy way to learn things. Try www.ultimate-guitar.com for tabs to a lot of songs.

  5. Play them.
