  1. MiniDV camcorders use USB for transferring stills - you still need a  firewire port for the video.


  2. canon and sony are two of the better brands but there isn't a lot of difference in consumer brands

  3. mini dv uses firewire, I think the only camcorder that uses USB is an HD.
