Hoi, well i start UNI in September..

I've got a car sorted..but at the moment i can't afford insurance..lessons or anything like that.

Well, i could..but i just couldn't keep up with it.

So I've decided to buy a motor bike.

I basically know nothing about motorbikes..

I'm a biker though, (push bike that is).

Basically, i live

9.6 mi – about 17 mins

Away from my university..

Could anyone suggest a decent motorbike that would get me there and back?

..I think scooters are out of the question..

but anything else!

Not sure on budget yet..

Have to wait and see how much of my UNI grant I'll have left..

But any suggestions would be awesome!

Cheers

  1. Go see the second hand motorbike section on Google

    I got mine there

  2. Hi, assuming you live in UK you'll have to pass CBT and will be limited to a 125cc bike until passing the practical. If you know nothing about bikes / mechanics stick with a well-known manufacturer - avoid Chinese imports. Don't write off scooters, especially if you only want a stopgap until you can afford a car; they are cheap to run, easy to ride and will match the performance of a "normal" bike of comparable engine size.

  3. Among Bajaj:

Platina (cheap and best on mileage)

Discover (better on mileage and a little style)

    Pulsar (great on style)

    Among Hero Honda:

CD Deluxe (cheap and good mileage)

    Splender (allrounder)

    Super Splender (great performance)

    Karisma (great on style)

Hunk (assum on performance and style)

    Among Suzuki:

    Zeus (cheap and affordable)

    etc....

But according to me the best for you affordable , best mileage and cheapest insurance would be BAJAJ  PLATINA.

  4. a 250 enduro would do you nicely.

  5. I had a Yamaha YBR 125 and it was great. Looked good and sounded like a bigger bike.

  6. You don't mention whether actually you have a bike licence or not?

If you don't have a bike licence, you will need to go through a CBT first, before you decide on which bike you want.  You will be limited to a maximum of 125cc in any case.

  7. buy a kawi ninja. i had a 250. it was a great first little bike. its very low to the ground and esy to handle. my insurance was only $250 a year in NJ. They are cheap if you find a used one to.

  8. Definitely get an off-road bike and register it. Much cheaper than road bikes, they won't go as fast, they're a lot easier to learn on and you can always take them out into the bush and have a bash. My sister just got her first bike. its a yamaha TTR-230. Beautiful little bike, very easy to ride, 6 gears, smoothe, just a really good bike for a beginner. the honda CRF230 is also a really good one too. Price range is about 4000-4500 so very affordable and great fun.

  9. keep at it with the push bike! ;)
