Best oil type for 2.7 intrepid?

i dont have the owners manual.

and ive heard synthetic oil will slow down the engine problem w\ the 2.7L. but what kind should i get? i live on the east coast

  1. if its flex fuel it is required synthetic by chrysler


  2. yes the 2.7 is know for sludge issues in the intreped, not so in a stratus/sebring. According to my dealer. But i was looking at a sebring at the time.  Chrysler supposedly fixed that prob about 2003. frequent oil changes is the best defense.  mobile 1 is a good oil

  3. This is one of the so called sludge engines, synthetic oil will prevent sludge. First link talks about the 2.7 l sludge problems.

    The second link, shows you how a synthetic oil is the solution.

    I would go with Mobil 1, 5-30 or 10-30, readily available, comes as factory oil on many luxury, high end sports cars.
