I am looking for good, reliable cars from the early '80s the the mid '90s. I love the old bmw and mercedes style, but have not heard positive things about them. Are those good cars from that time? If not, What are some safe, reliable, and most importantly fuel effeciant sedans from this time.

  1. for $4,000

    look for

98 Acura CL, 98 Ford Mustang V6, 98 Honda Accord or Civic, 98 Nissan Frontier or Pathfinder, 98 Subaru Impreza or Legacy, 98 -00 Toyota Corolla or Echo 00

these are all reliable and will last longer than other cars in this price range.

  2. Any benz or Bmw outside of the warranty is usually not a good buy.  Look for a well kept honda, nissan, or toyota.

  3. yeah, benz and mercedes are not worth the cost of repair to fix them at benz and mercedes garages.. plus they get c**p gas milage...

the only car you should look into is a Mazda Protege... simply the most reliable car ive ever owned... a 1993 one that is still running today! excellent gas millage! you could get a used one with 100k miles or so for less than 3k...
