I'm ready to purchase a new lens for my dSLR. Specifically, a Canon EF 70mm- 300mm F/4-5.6 IS USM. What are the best websites/e-retailers to buy on line from? Anyone had good luck?

  1. I guess it depends on what you consider a good characteristic in an on-line retailer.  I have purchased from Adorama, B&H and Sigma for Less and have had very good experiences from each of them.  Sigma for less is a little more reasonable on prices and as their name would imply they specialize in Sigma lenses.  But they sell other brands as well.  One thing that you definitely want to do is try to stick with someone reputable.  There are some real fly by night outfits online, and a lot of them sell what are known as "grey market" items.  They will be noticably cheaper but you won't get the manufacturers warranty on them.  It comes down to how much is the savings worth to you in risk.

  2. These are recommended sellers:

    http://www.keh.com

    http://www.adorama.com

    http://www.bhphotovideo.com

    http://www.uniquephoto.com

    http://www.beachcamera.com

If you ever have any doubt about a seller's reputation, go to http://www.resellerratings.com and check them out.

  3. B and H are the most respected online dealer for electronics that I know . Used them many times with NO problems.

  4. Adorama and B&H are great, also Calumet Photo.

By the way, check out this site - you can put in exactly what you want to buy (be as specific as possible) and how much you are willing to pay, and they will shop around for you and find the best deal.
