Best out of ODIs against Bangladesh, Jason Holder to replace him – Cricket News Update
West Indies fast bowler has been ruled out of the one-day leg of the ongoing tour of Bangladesh due to a hamstring injury.
Best, who was the best bowler in the recently concluded two-match Test series, which the tourists won 2-nil, picked up a “Grade 1 lateral hamstring strain” during West Indies’ 10-wicket win over the Bengali Tigers in Khulna, and will miss the upcoming ODI series and the one-off T20 International against the hosts. This was confirmed by the Windies’ team physiotherapist http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Christopher-James-Clark-c50825, who told media reporters that the injury would keep the Barbadian seamer out of action until January.
"Though being able to bowl in the second innings with pain-killing injections, he [Best] will need to return home to Barbados for ongoing treatment and rehabilitation," http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Bangladesh-c747 by ten wickets in the second Test to complete a 2-0 series whitewash. "It’s expected that he will be back to full fitness for the Caribbean Twenty20 tournament in January," he added further.
The 31-year-old Barbados quick, who made a comeback to the national side in June this year, was key to the tourists' series win over the Bengali Tigers, clinching a dozen wickets in the two-Test affair. He took six wickets in Mirpur, including 5 for 24 in the second innings, and returned with startling figures of 6-40 in the second innings of Khulna Test.
Uncapped Barbados fast bowler Jason Holder has been called up as Best’s replacement for the limited-overs series, the West Indies media manager Adriel Richard confirmed yesterday.
"Tino will be returning home with hamstring injury," said Richard. "Jason is going to replace him, and will come on Monday."
The rookie Barbadian pacer has so far played just 16 first-class matches, picking up 47 wickets at an impressive average of 20.85.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Ottis-Delroy-Gibson-c80358 welcomed Holder’s inclusion in the limited-overs squad saying, "Jason has done very well with the A-Team, so it's a good opportunity for him to come here and get into the environment to see what it is like, and experience the work ethic required to be successful at this level."
The first One Day International of the five-match series gets underway in Khulna on Friday, November 30, 2012.
