well to start with an old saree, tear it into thin ribbons just like the satin laces and as many as u can. Then take 3 of them and start making plaits like one u make with ur hair.when finished tie another ribbon n then again continue. do it till the whole ribbons are used. therafter take aplastic sheet or a cardboard and cut into a circle say abt a radius of 14-15cms.then take the end of ribbon plait and stick it onto the board in the centre with the help of glue or adhesive. then keep rooling the ribbon plait around the  circle on the board close to each other, so that the board is completly covered and do not forget to glue it while u rol around.after covering the board cut out if any extra board line is left. u now have a homemade doormat made out of old or may b torn saree. u can also use any dupatta or different duppattas for it.

collect used same size bottles. You can make a nice pyramid.

You could make paper mache from old newspaper and sculpt something or make a mask. Paint it with white poster paint first, let it dry and then paint it with colors of your choice of poster paints. Sounds like a fun project.
