Question:

Best over-the-counter whitening "solutions"?

My teeth aren't yellow, but they aren't white either... they are kind of off-white, and I really want white teeth.

I use "whitening" toothpaste.. but I just don't see any difference. I have used the Crest whitening brush wand in the past but ehhh.. I want something better. Is there anything besides the strips that actually work?

  1. Hey dear, if you really think you need more whiter teeth you should go and check with your dentist. professional bleaching can give you much desirable results than the home use products. Home use products can be used for maintenance program after office bleach. The best thing is to get you professional bleaching done by your dentist. Keep smiling...........

  2. When people use whitening toothpaste, it doesn't stay in the mouth long enough to do its job. Even five minutes isn't long enough. Try brushing and not rinsing at night before you go to bed. Then enough will stay on your teeth to keep doing its job at night.

Almost anything strong enough to whiten your teeth will also make them more sensitive by wearing away the outermost layer(s) of enamel to reveal the whiter enamel underneath. I'm willing to live with my non-perfect teeth to avoid sensitivity to cold and hot, which I have anyway just because bad teeth run in my family.

  3. Crest Whitestripes Professional is the only OTC product that might actually work for you.  There really isn't anything else that would make your off white teeth whiter.

Other than that it is just Zoom or dentist prescribed bleaching kits.

  4. I've heard of creams and other messy sounding kits, but i would recommend the strips.  My dentist gave me some that worked really well, but when you use whitening strips they come with sensitivity and sharp pains.  Be careful not to leave them in for too long or you can increase the sensitivity.  In the end, it's all worth it though! :)

  5. I did a little research and discovered that the main ingredient is nothing more than peroxide. So I went out and bought bicarbonate of soda and peroxide. Now I make a paste with that every day and brush my teeth and it whitens them just as well, freshens my breath, removes plaque and tartar and I save lots of money.
