  1. Speculate in the stock or foreign exchange markets. Trade these markets as a business, then invest in that business.

I recently had a conversation in a recent party discussing the success of a young 29 year-old entrepreneur who owned a penthouse in Chicago--6,600 sq. feet w/pool and wrap around terrace. The conversation ended when my friend laughed and said, "I don't want to hear about some other guy...I want to be the guy who owns the penthouse you are talking about."

Great speculators are not bears or bulls and don't care about being right or wrong. As Alexander Elder said in his book, Trading for a Living, The goal of a good trader is not to make money, but to trade well. By trading well, they are able to increase their working capital and wealth. Some people might say how successful Watten Buffet, or this investment guru is investing for the long term. But let me ask you this--how many long term investors do YOU personally know who are making a living out of it?

I am a trader myself, and I know a lot of full time traders who make a living speculating in the markets full time. These people understand, and are not afraid to take on risk. Hence, they get better returns for their money.

There are many ways to profit in an up market, down market, and even a sideways market. Those that do their homework, put in the time, and discipline themselves in the areas of money management and following a trading system that works for them make money in this market. Dwelling on money in any endeavor is a sure way to the poor house, but especially in the lightning-fast financial markets.

The money follows the system and the discipline, and not the other way around. When you focus on making money alone, you will hang on to losses longer than you should and taking profits too early.

Be warned though. 8 out of 10 persons who will speculate in these financial markets will fail in this business. The barrier for entry is low, everyone can get into this business with very little capital. They key to success in this venture is to get past the learning curve as soon as possible, and with as little loss as possible.

    Good luck!

  2. Most people think the highest paid people are in Show Business or Professional Sports, but the people who " manage money"...hedge fund operators, etc.  simply blow those 14 million dollar salaries away!

So get into " finance" in some way...you may never be the " top guy"..but even the foot soldiers in " finance" get a really decent lifestyle out of it.

  3. Don't choose a career based on salary... because you may end up with all this money but hate your career. Lots of people hate their JOB which is understandable, but to hate your CAREER means you didn't think it through or you went in it for the wrong reason (e.g., salary). And its much more expensive and time-consuming to change careers. I'd rather make a million at 35 doing something I love than a million at 25 doing something I hate...

It depends on where you live... different areas have higher demands for certain types of professionals... I'm sure someone will help you, I just replied to give advice, and for my darn points, lol.

P.S. It would help all of us, including yourself, if you don't paste excerpts of the Da Vinci Code in your post.... If I felt like deciphering something I would go to some ancient tomb or something. Where's Hooked on Grammar....
